Lesson Planning for 9th – 12th Grade
Purpose:
To help young men and women in high school understand the traditions of the Catholic funeral.
Focus:
Using Scripture passages and information from the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Catholic Funeral process is defined and explained. Each of the
three Sacred Moments of a Catholic Funeral is discussed in detail. These main points are also covered: Death is not the end – in Christ there is Resurrection, Burying the Dead is one of the Corporal Works of Mercy, Four Last Things – Death, Judgment, Heaven and Hell, Showing respect for and praying for the dead.
