Lesson Planning for 4th – 6th Grade
Purpose:
This lesson teaches students how families and the Christian community participate in the corporal works of mercy when they bury/inter the dead.
Focus:
We are called, as Catholics, to honor our dead. The entire Funeral process, from Vigil to Mass, to Committal is integral to that honoring. The cemetery also plays an important role as a permanent resting place for the bodies of the dead – visiting the grave site of a loved one is an important custom within the Catholic Church.
